That is the thing. I am not too sure. The etrac is way to slow. Everyone says it is slow but it finds more if you slow down. I dont believe that because although I may find 1 coin the others missed, I will cover only 1/4 of the ground if lucky and I always come up with the least amount of finds because I can not cover much ground. Honestly, I think the etrac is better but if it is really worth that is another question, I dont think it is much better. Certainly not worth double what a 705 is worth almost. They both seem to have trouble with Iron.

I have the Minelab XT70 and run it in all metal mode over fields, seems to do well but, my friend has an XP Gold and a new XP Deus and seems to do a little better than i do as he seems to get more depth. I have dug a few manhole covers at 2' deep so I don't think I will miss the treasure chest, LOL. Do you think the Etrac is much better than the 705? HH, Mike

That is exactly the reason why I ditched the Etrac... it went very deep, but was so slow that my mates with Goldmaxxes were running circles around me... and more annoying making one find after another.

I also struggled with the Etrac on very poluted sites as it has a monstrous depth... which is no fun when the farmer plowed the city trash 30 cm down... after 5 of such holes the will to dig would slowly leave me on new sites.

For farm fields and iron searches, I love the Goldmaxx it defenitely does not have the depth of the Etrac, but you cover more ground and have no problem on trashy sites. On a medieval site of mine that had several buildings and therefor is littered with nails and lead dross from the windows it picks out silver and copper very well smile.gif
